Where is GOB at? 2024 Update! ✨️

Hey guys! If you've been trying to catch up with all of these posts or you are seeing this page for the first time - thank you for tuning in!

I wanted to update you guys on where God of Bananas is at right now and what I am doing with it currently...

There's been a mix of activity going on - of which I've not been very vocal about online. But I want to share with you guys the latest news regardless.

1st up! GOB has been selected for a spot in a book called Saturday Annual 2025. It will be published as a 13 page one-shot along with several other artists - and you can see some preview pages of it below. (Though the pages do not have any toning)

I've worked hard and have finished all the manga pages for it - during the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024.

As you probably have noticed, the book is currently unavailable. We are working on solutions to fix that - but I'll let you guys know if I hear any updates with it!

The 2nd thing I wanted to share with you guys - is that I am currently turning God of Bananas into a Light Novel! It's something that I've been thinking really hard about these last several months. There is so much to the world and the story of GOB - and some missing plot holes here and there. So instead of trying to create more manga pages for it AND trying to process the story at the same time, I felt the best course of action is just to focus on telling a great narrative. The manga can always come later.

So, writing a book...where do I even begin with that? How I do I go about getting it published??

It's definitely not a normal way of doing things that's for sure! For one thing, Light Novels aren't nearly as popular as their Manga counterpart. And many people don't even know what a Light Novel is (I've had people DM'ing me on SM to ask what it is!)

But Light Novels are a popular medium in Japan and there are a bunch of Anime that were originally adapted from the Light Novels (not the Manga!)

Examples like: The Time I Got Reincarnated as A Slime, Spice and Wolf, Fate/Zero, Baccano!, No Game No Life, Sword Art Online, Overlord, and many more

Also, my publisher Saturday AM, recently started pursuing Light Novels with their new WEL RED line of books. This year, they published their first Light Novel from Whyt Manga and Stephanie Williams called Apple Black Orgins. This is a really cool opportunity because it now opens up the door for writers to get involved with the company!

I've started reading this book as well as another LN, and I became inspired to do the same thing. These books are actually really enjoyable to read and I feel a sense of immersion in the different worlds they paint. I'd love to try and capture that same sensation with God of Bananas. So even though this medium is a brand new area to explore for those outside of Japan - that's what I'll do! I'll figure out how to write it and publish it as I go!

As I'm typing this up, I've started writing the rough draft of the first chapter after studying how other LNs are doing it. I'll be sure to post it here on the blog when I'm done with it. But I'm excited to share my process with you all and I hope you'll continue to follow along with me on my journey ❤️

More concept art and character designs are on the way! I'll still be posting artwork for GOB as I go - so that you guys can enjoy seeing the process too!

Wish me luck!
